As part of our 20-year celebration for the 2020- 2021 school year, students, families, guides and alumni are sharing their Montessori story to highlight the impact of Starwood Academy of Frisco education. The Green family (Eric and Stacy with Easton, Toddler) have been enthusiastic supporters of our school for two years. This is their story:
How did you find Starwood Academy of Frisco?
We are first-time parents, therefore we took the internet to search for childcare (specifically Montessori) options. After initially touring Starwood and making a second visit for confirmation of our decision, we knew Starwood was the best option for our son.
Why did you choose Montessori for your family?
We chose Montessori because of the value of experiential learning. We also wanted a situation where Easton was not just playing all day, but also growing and developing skills through hands-on manipulation of objects. We also were attracted to Montessori because of how the model cultivates independence and life skills.
What makes Starwood Academy of Frisco special to you?
Starwood is special to us because of the diversity and inclusion. It always warms my heart to pull into the carpool lane and see children of all races and ethnicities sitting next to each other swinging their legs and chatting about the day. Starwood is also special to us because it feels like a community. There is so much intentionality in safety, care, skills development and learning experiences.
What does your family like best about Starwood Academy of Frisco?
We love the school in itself (clean, new, up to date). We love the menu options available to our picky eater, and that the options are nutritional. We love that the toddler classroom activates learning and fun creatively. Lastly, we love the staff. The kindness and transparency are unmatched.
Any favorite “Montessori Moment” thus far?
During the time Easton was at home with us, he started to throw his food when he was done. Within a few weeks of being back in Montessori, we have noticed at home when he is done he now hands us his plate and says “thank you”. Another favorite moment is noticing Easton calmly sitting down during circle time in the classroom on the Storypark application. He’s a very active child, so to see him sitting in a circle listening intently was such a joy! We also love how Montessori caters to Easton’s sensitive period of physical play by integrating movement class on Wednesday. Teatime is another favorite Montessori moment.
Thank you to the Green family and our entire school community for your long-lasting support for our schools!
