The Person Family

As part of our 20-year campaign for the 2020- 2021 school year, students, families, guides and alumni are sharing their Montessori story to highlight the impact of Starwood Academy of Frisco education. The Person family (TJ and Stacey with Jack and Ryan, Lower Elementary and Primary) have been loyal supporters of our school for six years. This is their story:

Why did you choose Montessori for your family?

My husband and I both struggled in school. When our first child was a baby we began to explore different methods of learning. It was important to us that our children's education was personalized, highlighted their strengths, helped them to become independent and was an extension of our intentional, peaceful parenting. Montessori embodies everything we believe about children and how to partner with them to help them grow into independent, capable adults that love learning.

What makes Starwood Academy of Frisco special to you?

In addition to staying true to each part of the Montessori philosophy, Starwood has become family. Both of my children started at two years old and the staff and guides at Starwood have partnered alongside us through anxiety about leaving my kids with someone other than myself, food sensitivities, potty learning, learning disabilities and everything in between with love, care and expertise.

What does your family like best about Starwood Academy of Frisco?

The community at Starwood is by far my favorite thing about Starwood Academy of Frisco. They are committed to providing opportunities for families and students to connect.

Any favorite “Montessori Moment” thus far?

Watching your child grow through each phase and develop a love of learning is beyond special.
