As part of our 20-year celebration for the 2020- 2021 school year, students, families, guides and alumni are sharing their Montessori story to highlight the impact of Starwood Academy of Frisco education. Ms. Sahar (retired Primary Guide) has been a loving supporter of our schools for 18 years. This is her story:
Do you have a favorite “Montessori Moment” from over the years?
As a teacher, I had great moments over the years. Every year, the first day of school was always a special day for both myself and the children. I loved waiting for my students at door, introducing myself, inviting and welcoming the children to their classroom/second home away from home.
What made Starwood Academy of Friscospecial to you as an educator?
Starwood Academy of Frisco are authentic schools with lifetime benefits, a love of learning and teachers that help children reach their potential. It is a safe environment, great education and respect for all.
What was your favorite part of Montessori philosophy while teaching?
Freedom is one of my favorite parts of Montessori Philosophy. The children must be free to explore and follow their own natural impulses. This will develop their knowledge of the world around them.
How would you describe the community at Starwood Academy of Frisco? What does it mean to you to have been a part of it?
I taught in the primary classroom for 14 years with the same wonderful co-teacher Ms. Kim! We had great children in our classroom. They were engaged, energetic and eager to learn. Starwood Montessori School was the ideal place to work because I had a great opportunity to teach hundreds of children and watch them all grow. We had amazing families and the best students over the years. I enjoyed teaching siblings, cousins and friends. Unfortunately my last year teaching, I had knee injury and had to get surgery. I had to stop working, but my time at Starwood meant the world to me! I stayed in touch with the staff and some families and was so thankful for the friendships I made over the years. Starwood Montessori School will always have a very special place in my heart. They have great management, staff, families and children. Teaching is very rewarding and I love to watch my little students shine like Starwood stars! ⭐️Thank you to Ms. Sahar and our entire school community for your long-lasting support for our schools!
